The ski club of Great Britain offer guiding in various French resorts- you can tag along for a day, after which if you want to carry on you need to join the club....go to www.skiclub.co.uk for further info...

Ski hosting in Austria last week courtesy of a small independent operator I travelled with. We politely declined their services, preferring to explore the area in our own group. Interesting to hear that they spent more time in cafes and restaurants than actually skiing, and were left at lunchtime to do their own thing. And used taxis rather than the free buses available.
I guess its normal business to make as much money out of people as possible these days and get a free lunch, or am I just being cynical?

Just stayed in ADH with Crystal, they were offering hosting and "getting around" the ruling by using an ESF guide/instructor to operate this service.
Up there for thinking, down there for skiing...

Using an ESF instructor is hardly "getting around" the ruling, It's exactly what ESF want and is legal. It has always been illegal for an unlicensed paid employee to guide. Social skiing with volunteers is 'getting around" the ruling, but that's what many are doing to provide a much loved service.
