What really surprised me about grass under snow, is that there fungi that thrive during the winter by living on the dormant grass. Every year our hay fever season starts as soon as the snow melts off the grass, and the spores are released.
because I'm so inclined .....

I can't believe we have got to page two, and nobody has asked the obvious question. It's all very well knowing what makes the grass turn yellow, but this is a ski forum.

The pertinent question should be "What makes the snow go yellow?" :roll:

That man i saw blatantly colouring the snow next to a lift in Les Arcs..... Disgusting, especially with all the kids sliding past.

I saw a women making yellow snow once! I went passed thinking "Did i really just see what i saw" :/
