Off there next Saturday - Could anyone let me know of any easier reds - wide would be good and ones to avoid that have any steep narrow bits. I am a nervous intermediate but Mr B is a very experienced skier so any pistes you could recommend for him will be also greatfully received. Favourite eating holes on the piste would be useful too. Thanks

Lizzie. Serre Che has not narrow or moguled reds. They're all lovely and wide.

Suggested runs for you to try:

Monetier side:

Cibout high above Tabuc, nice cafe at mid station there.
Clos Gillard and Corvaria from Tabuc, and the Stade and Chaume runs down to the village.
Try and follow the Rochamout blue down the far side and come across the Peyra-Jauna restaurant hidden away, lovely food and proper little rustic place.

Villeneuve sector:

Cucumelle - brilliant fast red, not particularly steep but a great cruise down.
All the blues and reds around the board park area above Grande Alpe are lovely, nothing hard there.
A couple of the runs into Serre Ratier have steep sections but really wide.

Try and head over to the Aiguilette chair above Chantmerle, tucked away a bit and you may have to take the annoying 3 Croix green track to get there, but the 2 reds that run under the chair are fantastic, and often empty. Couple of my favourite runs in the world.

Right at the top of Briancon sector, theres a few open runs at the top with a natural half pipe in the middle. These are also wide and fun to ski.

Seriously, there is nothing REALLY hard to ski there, although the Cretes red right off the top above Monetier freaks a few people out with its height and steepness, but if youre a decent intermediate you'll be fine.

Serre Che is fantastic, and writing this makes me want to go back again NOW

Cheers Tony, we are staying in Villeneuve, we are both reasonable skiers, (get down most things maybe not the prettiest lol)
welcome any advice on watering holes, thrilling runs etc
cheers Mike

Advice re runs as above.

Watering holes? Easiest place is La Grotte at the bottom of the Villeneuve slopes next to the Aravet gondola. You can actually ski into it taking the green runs off the mountain and cutting across before the Club Med. Its got a vibe to it, but can get rowdy late on. Drinks not v expensive, and half price when its snowing so head down there as soon as the flakes fall!

There are a number of other little rustic bars dotted around the lovely old village of Villeneuve, I dont remember any names, but a stroll along the main street and youll find them all, and up in the really old part if you can be bothered!!!

Enjoy
