Thanks so much, you've helped me make up my mind and I've just booked St Johann. Fingers tightly crossed from now until 17 March that the season ends as it has started........lots of snow. Many thanks again.

St J is a good town, plenty going on and the ski bus goes to the other resorts on the lift pass, Fieberbrunn, Kirchdorf (where we stayed) etc so I am sure you will have a good time Austrian style!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

I have skied the area for several years and normally stay at kirchdorf. It is worth buying the area lift pass that allows you to ski steinplatte, fieberbrunn and St Jacob. All are worth skiing. I am sure you will have a great time.

Pippak, you'll be better off in St J for what you want by the sounds of it. Soll is a really good area and part of the biggest linked area in Austria but if you're new to skiing you don't need kind of mileage on offer.

St J is far more aethetically pleasing.
