Shamrock bar was about €6.5 for a Guinness/Kilkenny (not inc in happy hour) and Kronenberg was €4.5 during happy hour (5-6)

Vin chaud on the mountain varied €4-6
Water on mountain varied €3-6
Onion Soup €9-12

Lunch generally cost me about €15 - I know people will keel over at that esp Tony H and Wickers!

20 bottles of Kronenberg from trhe shop was €12, so driniking in did have its advantages. Apart from the fact that you dont meet lovely laaaadies ;)

Ughhhh.....just seeing the name of the Shamrock makes me shiver. Was on a stag do in VT Dec 2005, they stopped selling us shots of Toffee Vodka and just gave us the bottles - the scar on my chin is testament to this!

To be honest I did not find the drinks that expensive. Especially when you get to know the bar staff you always find free Grappa coming in your direction :)

Where are you staying Gonzo? I can give good advice on evading mops!

Update just for CrispyApplePie

When we went to leave the apartment we had to have it inspected to make sure we had not stolen curtains etc.....We did not have to clean the apartment as this was included in the price.

The man came round at 9.30am as arranged to inspect the apartment. He walked into the lounge, saw a bit of mud on the floor, pointed at it, grunted and walked off. He came back about 5 minutes later with a 6 ft 5 fella built like a wall. It turned out later that he was the manager of the 3 complexes. The man explained how the place was dirty and needed to be cleaned. We argued back and explained that it was included etc. He said this was not the case, we were not in a hotel!

The argument continued and got more heated. The manager said we were subject to a €52 fee for the mess (remember he has only looked at this one piece of mud so far, not even glanced at the rest of the apartment). We said we were not paying it. He said we have to. At that stage, my dad grabbed the mop and said we would clean it ourselves. Thats where the fun started

The manager, grabbed the mop off my dad - pushed him back using the mop and said leave it!! We insisted no, we can clean teh floor in 5 minutes to avoid the €52 fine, again he pushed my dad back with the mop (this may sound funny, but at the time it was quite intimidating)

This conversation went on. In teh end we said we would pay the fine as we needed to get off as the weather was bad. We said that we will simply leave a suitable comment on Trip Advisor......

He changed his tune then!

Suddenly gave us his email address, telephone number, mobile number and said that he would forward our complaints to Ski Horizon (we booked it through them). He asked us where we lived in England, do we follow football, rugby etc, I explained I follow Sale, he went on about the French Manager and continued to be super friendly.

We paid the fine, he accepted €50 from us as he did not have any change. He wrote a receipt on the back of a piece of paper....

At teh airport, looked at this piece of paper - on the back of it a list of charges. One being a mini clean €25 and full in depth clean €52. Why did we get the full charge as he did not even look at any part of the apartment apart from the mud patch?

I will post on TripAdvisor and YouTube and anywhere else I can find reviews of the accomodation. To remind you all:-

Le Valset - Val Thorens

Part of Odalys apartments.

Avoid the Valset and probably the group as they are managed by the same people.

Edit:

The apartment was advertised as having an Oven....well it did I suppose

Bottom of Grand Fond. A welcome lunch break :D

Opposite Cairn bubble - another well earned lunch

Went in for a Vin CHaud during the heavy snow. Came out 30 minutes later after been asked by they Ski Patroller to leave....where are my ski?

Snow ploughs and scoops were busy all Friday night and through Saturday to make sure we could all leave. They do a great job

It was a great holiday
