Think this a great site,especially the diverse range of topics with the friendly banter. been lurking in the back ground without posting anything.only forum I visit that has made me laugh out loud!

I think the good vibes around here is also something that happens as a forum matures. Forums were a new form of communication for most people and there's a learning curve involved. On established forums, it's usually someone relatively new to the concept that upsets the apple cart.

I agree with the others. Good banter, advice and excellant humour....well most of the time...and Mr Admin seems SO much happier these days. Long may this continue....especially keeping the top man happy. Roll on Serre Che 4th Feb :D

I mean look at me - hardly a line of wibble anywhere these days! But I do miss the old days a bit, when Admin was after me with his axe all ready to cut off my head and sell my children into slavery, and I was the Wibble Queen outlaw hiding in the hills :lol:

Salski - yes, we're off to Les Gets again for the joy that is half term. Last trip there for a while I think, my 11 year old has unfinished business there after the poor conditions last year so we're indulging him but it'll be somewhere different next year.

I'm on this site a lot more this year than I have been in the past - must be the high class chat!

I'm a newbie (only been skiing for 18 months as well) and really enjoying this forum. Seems to be plenty of good advice and tongue in cheek humour.

We're part way through our week in Val D'Isere. What a great place. Easily the best resort we've visted - lively town with good apres ski (Blue Note Bar) has become our regular. Skiing is fantastic although piste classification is ridiculous - my wife has been using some very choice words when looking down runs that are apparently blue.

The glacier skiing in Val and Tignes still shut though due to avalanche risk.

Completely agree with the OP, I have, in the past, been on a number of forums and found some people to be obnoxious and somewhat unhelpsul or derogatory, particularly when I was new to skiing and had questions that they might have seen dozens of times before in the past. But is that any reason to mock or belittle a newbie??
