Tony,
When I booked our holiday 6 years ago I couldn't find one anywhere else cheaper, or I probably would have booked it.

And my husband's niece and her friends couldn't find one any cheaper in January, or they'd have got it. They couldn't go last minute because they had to book up months in advance to get the time off. I find it very amusing, the thought that she's going straight from Borovets to Courchevel, as you said it's one extreme to the other. It will be interesting to see how she finds it.

Pablo,
I'm sure neither Austrian nor Bulgarian potatoes will be anywhere near as good as our own home grown Pembrokeshire potatoes! Unfortunately, though, we don't have a ski resort here.

Sorry Peter can't think of it at the moment- but will check with the others when they get home and see if they remember. It was with Boro Sports.
Nearly, almost, but not quite!

No problem . Our instructor was with the Samokov ski school. Although he was a great guy, he was not very forthcoming with instruction.I skied for the first time last year in Sauze Deux our ski school instructor was a scotish guy named Roger.Although i improved a lot this year i think it was mainly due to spending more time on the slopes .

Out of interest, I have checked the prices for next Feb half-term, 13th Feb, to see if Bulgaria is still the cheapest.

I used Inghams ski on the internet, for no particular reason, but I didn't want to check all of the Travel Agents. And I was particularly picking a mainstream travel agent, because I think people on their first ski holiday are probably more likely to use these. It's only later that people start designing their own holiday.

I checked their prices to Bulgaria, France, Austria, Italy, Romania, Andorra, and Slovenia. I looked at half-board hotels, flying from London airports, 2 adults and 2 children.

Bulgaria was still the cheapest, but not by much, so I think the argument for going there because it is the cheapest is getting weaker. I have no idea why France was so frightfully expensive with Inghams - unless I've made a mistake (only too possible!). Of course I didn't include all the extras, like ski passes etc., this might make a difference to the rankings.

Bor hotel, Borovets, Bulgaria = £607 p.p.
Hotel Bradul, Poiana Brasov, Romania = £681 p.p.
Aparthotel Xalet Besdi, Arinsal, Andorra = £685 p.p.
Hotel Spik, Kanjska Gora, Slovenia = £724 p.p.
Hotel Gruberhof, Igls, Austria = £768 p.p.
Hotel Sciatori, Tonale, Italy = £819 p.p.
Hotel Excelsior, Chamonix, France = £991 p.p.

Ian,
Well, yes, but I set it to find the cheapest holiday in each country - unless as I said I made a mistake - will have a look later,

I've double checked it, and that really was the cheapest price for France.
