Hi,

I've always gone package holiday previously but have decided to look into DIY this year to keep costs down.

Does anyone have any experience of which airports and transfers are best for Les Menuires or Superdevoluy?

I'm guessing that public transport is the cheapest way to go? Are french busses ok when you turn up with big ski/board bags?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated ;) ,
Stuart.

Les Menuires is close to Val Thorens I believe and I think Moutiers would be the closest train station??

Anyone got any experience of getting to Moutiers or from there on to Val Thorens?

Cheers

Hi Stuart84.

I'm off to Les Menuires too this season - first time.

We're flying with EasyJet to Geneva and then using a Private transfer business. There are 7 adults so the cost is not too bad, when shared around. Also, we only there for 4 nights, but with an early flight from Stansted and a late one home, we can get nearly 5 days of skiing in. Therefore hanging around for 'slow' buses is something to be avoided.

I'm sure buses to the ski resorts are going to expect people to be carring skis / boards and therefore can't really make a big issue about it.
You'll never know, unless you try...

Hi,

There's buses running several times a day from Geneva airport to ski resorts in the 3 Valleys. Go to http://www.alpski-bus.com/

One way to Les Menuires is 75 euros, return is 126 euros. You can pick up tickets at the airport. You'll probably need to book online in advance for Les Menuires because if they haven't got enough people going to a particular resort, they'll prearrange for a taxi or minibus to take you from Moutiers bus station to your accomodation (all included in the price). The service is pretty good - of course, there's absolutely no problem with ski/board gear.

Have a great time!
