Hello all.

I have booked a super cheap deal here on a flyer but dont really know much about it.

Got SC Accom inc Lift pass, flights, transfers and ski hire for £280 - 10th Jan.

Seems pretty reasonable and looking for a smaller resort for a chill out week rather than a mega apres session so just me and OH going.

Anyone been there or knowledge of the place.

Dont hold back, got Feb and march trips paid for as well,. as i say, bit of a flyer for a cheeky week. :-)

You are aware its a seaside resort on the Cote d'Azur, next to Monte Carlo, arent you?

I bet Hattie's got it confused with the La Joue du Loup that has Super Dévoluy in it and is in the Hautes-Alpes. Easy mistake to make I think, I thought that's where Hattie meant as well

Hi Hattie,

We looked at La Joue du Loup (and other smaller resorts in that general area) for January 2009, however ruled it out as we wanted to go for a fortnight and weren’t sure if there would be enough skiing for that length of time.

However, the reviews that I managed to find on the area (La Joue du Loup and SuperDévoluy) were pretty positive and the skiing seemed ideal for what we wanted (lots of blues and reds.)

I’ll be very interested to hear what you think when you get back, as it may be a contender for a week in future years.

Where are you off to for your other two trips? )

Lynn

We went to Super Dévoluy a couple of years ago at half term so it was very busy. La Joue du Loup was a lot easier on the eye than Dévoluy (70's block), the skiing was pretty good in the main but there were some long drag lifts.

Dévoluy has that reputation, one of the grand projects of the French ski industry supported by the state and propped up with soft financing with some rather Stalinist architecture as most of those centres were. People I know that go speak well of it. JdL is apparently much nicer though.

Hi, Going to superdev again this Xmas/new year and the snow has been good the last 2 trips. They have just put in a new 6 chair going to start this December which should help on the lower slopes. Don't know how high the new chair goes though, if it makes it to the top of the red areas it will make life a lot easier and faster to get up to the top. Will let you know the results in January. Don't worry about the architecture, it disappears into the landscape very easily, just be aware that Joue de loup has a stoney reputation. That said the ski school is good and as long as you are willing to get off the main track there is a fair amount of skiing, nice for a week
