Nonsense. Many a time I have heard the "beep beep" of a pistey basher whilst skiing. Its a bit like driving and seeing a grit lorry, you either get out of the way quick or past it quick.
Personally, if its all chopped up, its like fresh morning tracks skiing behind the basher.

I've seen this in Austria a lot. Also in Serre Che and ADH so its not something the French don't do. I'm pretty sure it used to happen more than it does now. Money talks.

Thats right Tony. I remember when I was learning to ski, doing the snow plough. Thought I was doing quite well, the instructor shouting, "snow plough!!!", to which I responded, "I bl**dy am!!!"

"NO, behind you!!!!"

Yup, agree with TH, seen many out during the day, mostly towards the end of the ski day when they're coming up the mountain to start their shift. Same time every day when we were heading home we'd have to get out of their way. And follow their tracks to the bottom of course :)

Which reminds of another consideration that is given to piste bashing. Warm daytime temps mean that often it is not good to groom until it is colder at night or even very early in the morning. If you groom wet snow and then the temps really drop, it'll be like concrete in the morning. Personally I rather like the snow like that, but most would not.
because I'm so inclined .....
