Btw. Chambery is a crap hole.

Totally disagree!!
Lovely little place.
OK - no facilities worth mentioning and if you arrive at the same time as bus loads of others then check in can be a bit of a scrum.
But ...
Closer to resorts.
Geneva is designed purely to part one from cash and in ChFr so I have no idea what I am spending!
And Chambery has an outside cafe bit so I can have a cigar and mentally prepare myself for loading into a tin can that is bound to crash and kill me
And ...
When you arrive at Chambery the baggage is often there before you've got through passport and customs.
And ...
Flying in/out over the lake and mountains is an experience.
If you know where to look you can still see the scar on the mountain where the plane crashed trying to land in bad weather.

Crash....yeah thanks for that.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

Disagree ;)

1. Us northerners have to pay through the nose to go to Chambery
2. Geneva is a proper airport with very easy checkin (addmitingly only done EasyJet there, but that has to be the 'worse it could be')
3. A delay at Geneva is no problem with all the nice shops :)
4. Can pay in euros
5. Car hire is simple

and......

6. Stupid flight time only to Chambery

Is there a good alpine airport? Surely we're talking about the least bad here?

I have not flown to many Geneva, Milan, Bergamo,Turin,Innsbruck but as an airport Geneva is the best but as for flights taking off on time Geneva is the worst last year flight was half an hour late
in boarding then we sat for another half an hour in a queue to take off

I've done Chambery, Lyon, Innsbruck, Geneva, Grenoble and Turin. All much of a muchness, in none of them are you made to feel like a valued customer.

Still I'm sure our time in Geneva will be a delight next Saturday!
