ouch!that had to hurt, bit harsh Ian?
Andi - make use of the excellent ski schools to be found in austria and have a couple of lessons, you will learn so much more than trying to do it yourself and see much more of the resort at the same time!

Some people are only able to improve their skiing with lessons. It's is easier, you don't have to think for your self, and you don't have to really understand what you are doing. Others are able to combine lessons with their own discovery learning, guided by by what they have learned from other sources.
Maybe the reason that you don't have anything to contribute other than "get a lesson" to a technique question, is that this type of learning does not work for you. That's fine, but the mantra gets stale, and puts off people who are interested in asking questions.
Sometimes breakthroughs in our learning come from hearing something put in a different way, given a different context, or related to a different concept. That's where forum discussion can be very helpful.
BTW the type of person you refer to as 'an out of control idiot", is very unlikely to be posting a technique question on a forum. They are ready know all they need to.

I think if someone post a technique question, it is quite reasonable for someone to post that lessons are a good idea. Maybe someone else might post the benefit of lessons. but to keep on, and on that lessons are the only way to learn, is failing to understand how some people learn.

One thing I have been thinking about is why my quads hurt so much ?? so the other day I simply looked into a mirror side on and moved up and down as I would when skiing and aha!! I noticed that I was bending at the knee joint instead of flexing forward at the ankle joint!
Basically I was squatting all day while skiing! no wonder my legs where hanging off!! a simple mistake that would have been spotted straight away by an instructor, but hey self discovery and teaching myself is something I have done and now I understand so much more.
I also think with all this self study on Techniques and body positions balance etc, i may find I will pick things up a little sooner because I have done the theory stuff, and the help from people on this site has been very valuable to me so cheers for all the tips!
Andy :)
