In-Line skating looks really fun. There are no places to learn amongst others nearby though. Mr Mekka doesn't seem interested either. I don't want to shell out on the kit and then find it gathers dust as I have no impetus. This has been known to happen before! Balance and athleticism are not my strong points. Is it easy to pick up?

Is there a difference between an indoor water rowing machine and a 'normal' rowing machine?
I have visions of sitting in the bath

You appear young and must be active if you ski so if an old f--t like me can do the exercises I am sure you can ...all the balance ones take is practice and perseverance athleticism has passed me by though...i just spend 1/2 on hour on the cross trainer or the static bike .....

I was worried about my fitness for my first time on a mountain last January,I have asthma and weigh 16 stone and even tho I go to the gym 3 nights a week and have a physical job I would struggle to run a mile . So I hired an indoor water rowing machine a couple of months before the holiday ...it is hard work but well worth the effort, during the holiday I hardly used my inhaler .

Apart from having a good all round general level fitness for stamina, I find pilates has helped my skiing. It gives you good core strength and balance which keeps you upright, or at least makes it easier to stand up if you do fall.

I've started doing a few miles on my cross trainer this week in an effort to get fit, though I think I'm going to have to put in a bit more effort to really make a difference.
I'm also trying to cut out all the nice (but fattening) things in my diet (the usual chocolate, wine, cheese etc.) for a while as I'm determined to lose a stone before my hols. Whether I succeed or not (particularly with Christmas in the middle) is an entirely different matter…. :D

Hands up who always says this each year, and then promptly carries on munching chocolate, going to the pub and cracking open a bottle of wine on a Tuesday night......

Guilty as charged
It's a shame not to enjoy a glass of wine or several with a meal though (soft drinks just aren't the same), particularly as we have eight cases under the stairs crying "drink me" in very loud, pleading voices. OH got a little click happy on Virgin Wines Auctions, though we did get some absolute bargains
As for the chocolate, I'm female, what more can I say..... :(
