So they setting avalanche off with explosives? That must be a cool.job.

It's pretty normal Icy after snow fall you do tend to hear the explosions in resorts.

Yeah I know that, just never seen it on roads before. Must be a good, but a guess dangerous job. These guys do a lot so we can go skiing!! Lift pass worth every bean this week!

According to Val Thorens website, the road between Les Menuires and Val Thorens was closed all night - was scheduled to reopen at 7:30 today (now).

Wind picked up last night - walking anywhere in the blizzard was very difficult. Things have calmed down now.

Avalanche blasting can be heard roughly every 5-10 mins.

Still snowing!

Tignes is showing 2 lifts open but no pistes!

... a few years ago, we were stopped half way down a piste by the pisteurs in Tignes. Then a helicopter came in and threw explosive onto the mountain above the piste. It didnt bring down any snow and then they reopened the piste having decided the snow was stable:shock:

I've never seen a bunch of people so anxious to get down a piste :lol:

Avoriaz closed because of too much snow!! lol they are bombing the mountain day and night and its still snowing !!! That snow dance really worked
Snowb4ndit has driven to work in Chatel but has taken her skis just in case!!
Nice way to commute!
its all going rapidly downhill!
