Les 2 Alpes summer season starts on 23 June

Iainm posted Jun-2018

After a very snowy winter, Les 2 Alpes is ready for the summer season. The resort will open on 23 June until the 1st of September for summer skiing, mountain biking and a wide range of other activities.

Les 2 Alpes Outdoor Festival

The summer season kicks off with 'Les 2 Alpes Outdoor Festival' from 22 to 24 June.

Over the weekend, visitors to the resort can try out a number of great activities including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running, slackline and waterline training, yoga, street golf, rock climbing, paragliding and mountain boarding.

There will also be races and contests where pros and amateurs alike can take part.

Summer skiing on Europe's largest skiable glacier

After a snowy winter, cold temperatures this spring and excellent work by the resort to preserve the snow, the glacier is in superb conditions.

At the start of the summer season, it will be possible to ski between 3600m and 2600m. The lower limit will increase to 3200m later in the season. 100 hectares of runs for beginners and pros will be available, including the chance to practice tricks in the snow park.

A new skate park

A new slopestyle skatepark culminating in a bowl (a permanent module recessed into the ground, located between the street and the ramp) is opening on 14 July in the resort centre at an altitude of 1,600 metres.

Biking

The resort has 91km of mountain biking tracks, one downhill area, 13 downhill runs including one Elite run, five enduro runs et two cross-country itineraries. The 2 Alpes Bike Park opens from 23 June to 1st September and attracts 33,000 mountain bikers every summer.

From 29 June to 1st July, Les 2 Alpes hosts the 19th Mountain of Hell, a downhill race with 2,500 metres of vertical drop (25 kilometres from altitudes of 3400m to 900m) and 700 competitors.
