Tour Ops Line Up To Stress They’re Brexit Surcharge Free

J2SkiNews posted Dec-2016

Tabloid reports about skiers unhappy to be surcharged after they booked trips this winter with Mark Warner have led other tour operators to stress they're not making, or going to make, similar surcharges.

Tabloid reports about skiers unhappy to be surcharged after they booked trips this winter with Mark Warner have led other tour operators to stress they're not making, or going to make, similar surcharges.

The reports, initially in strongly pro-Brexit and pro-market-forces tabloid papers the Daily Express and Daily Mail, which none-the-less seemed outraged that Mark Warner would pass on their higher costs resulting from the post-Brexit-vote devaluation of the pound to their customers, sparked a state of press releases in to J2Ski.com from tour operators.

One from Ski France (www.skifrance.co.uk) was typical,

"After the announcement that some companies are demanding more money from their customers who have already paid, Ski France and Summer France are keen to stress that their holidays are free from any surcharge following BREXIT," the company's statement reads, continuing,

"...one of the largest tour operators raised the 'surcharge clause' in its terms and conditions, which allows travel firms to request an additional fee from customers because the cost of the package has increased. …However, Ski France guarantee that this will not happen to their clients. Both brands are even offering prices in line with the much more favourable exchange rate from last winter, so guests who book late deals to the slopes and early-summer breaks to the beaches and countryside, can get even more for their money."

Most other ski tour operators have also stated they are holding their prices at pre-Brexit-vote levels for 2016-17 although privately many are saying this policy is eating in to their margins making the chance of making any profit this winter much more challenging for them.
