Six Stats about Courchevel

Iainm posted Sep-2015

We all like a list. Here's a mini list with six facts about Courchevel:

1. The Courchevel area has 588 snowmakers distributed over more than 60 % of the area.

2. 1800 rounds of Beaufort cheese are produced thanks to milk from the cows grazing on Courchevel's alpine pastures in the summer. The cows make a major contribution to keeping the slopes in perfect condition.

3. €100 000 has been invested in bird protection - five ski lifts are specially equipped to prevent birds colliding with the cables.

4. 70 % of the ski lifts in Courchevel are now adapted to allow disabled skiers access.

5. The Emile-Allais slalom stadium has 21 lanes and will host the FIS World Cup Women's Giant Slalom on 20 December 2015

6. The ski jump site in Courchevel Le Praz has four takeoff ramps - K-25; K-60; K-90 and K-120 – unique within France

It's a great place, It's our 4th time back this year.

I like the fact that the same amount of money spent on bird protection is the same amount it costs for a decent meal in some of the restaurants!!!!
