Could be a fun week in the mountains... all indications are of a pretty heavy SNOWfall tomorrow in the Northern Alps, down to mid-altitudes...

After which it looks like temperatures will climb by about 20C over the next 7 days; next week is going to be HOT!

Gotta love Spring. 8)

It's doing my head in. From the conservatory window, my local hill is covered in the white stuff.

Cairngorm is still operational. A friend posted to say that Glencoe is a dream.

I really should be there. But I have kicked off several projects on my house, and these involve many hours of planning. All needs to be done, in order to earn enough brownie points for next seasons skiing.....

Plus preparation for a weeks painting in the Lake District in just over a weeks time.

It's a hard life.

This happens every year with rare exceptions, warm April followed by snow at the very end. It's game over, it doesn't matter how much snow may still fall, it's only good higher up and not for long, by noon it's a heavy mash. Temperatures already were in 20s for some time, so ground is quite warm and lot of old snow already slid. probably Ok to ski couple of hours on groomed runs, but it's end of April, not end of December, so forecasts like this is a source of annoyance, not excitement.

As Dave Mac says, conditions in Glencoe are reported to sublime. It's not all over there, VSB!

Agreeing with VSB and LOTA. It always felt bad, season end, leaving white covered alps in late April.

Ski days shortened by heavy conditions didn't concern me, I just sat up the mountain and did some painting.

Glencoe is good, just now. However, wind conditions remain strong over Scotland. We had thunder today.

I have skied on Cairngorm in May. But there is one lady, who I think is approaching 4 years, having skied every month of the year.
