I maybe looking at a visit to Austria in March, well either Austria or the Dolomites, if it is Austria then it will be the 'Salzburger Sportwelt ' area, plenty of skiing, pretty good snow record, but does anybody know if the areas are well linked ?

Came back on Monday after 4 days skiing the area, staying in Flachau. Really enjoyed it, great snow conditions some testing runs as it was mainly unpisted due to the large amounts of snow falling and being made.

Free Ski Buses run from Flachau to the other areas. Aplendorf, Flachauwinkl and Alpenmarkt all worth the bus ride and didn't take that long, Alpenmarkt probably the longest at about 15 mins and a mornings skiing.

There are 2 worldcup runs in the area, the Herman Maier piste used for the womens slalom in Flachau and the last run of the day, quite tesing as it is Ice underneath and the downhill at Flachauwinkl.

Easy transfer from Salzburg, about 45/50 mins

MMmm that was my concern ...... ski buses to connect resorts, perhaps the better option is the Dolomites

Sounds fantastic. However, due to altitude and snow record, I feel it could only be somewhere I went to at very short notice knowing the snow was in great shape. With short transfers it seems a possibility.
Wickers - if you want to book up, the Dolomites might be the safer option to guarantee skiing?

The Dolomites have not got the best snow record in the world

No but they have extensive snow making and its higher so likely to be colder.

Anyway, have you looked at my more serious suggestions of Schladming and Bad Gastein, seeing as I get the impression you really want to try Austria again?

At the mo I'm looking at flights, Salzburg seems to come in a bit pricey, so just maybe the Dolomites may get the nod
