So should I weigh myself in full ski gear, including boots & rucksack?

That's what I always do (minus the rucksack because I haven't got one). My sister refused to believe she could weigh as much as the scales in the ski hire shop said, and she stripped down so she was practically standing in her underwear

Any photos Ally?

Of her standing on the scales in the semi-nude, or me rolling about laughing on the floor?

Sorry Dave Mac, I've been up all night hunting for that photo :D and I can't find it.

I have, however, read that article on the first page, and I was amazed to see that they reckon a difference of 1kg can upset the binding settings. I mean, that's only 1 litre of water in your rucksack.

I have my new ski's now and when the ski shop fitted the bindings they set the DIN to 4.5, after reading the thread I am concerened it may be a bit low??

Weight 15 st kitted out with rucksack etc, ski's 172 long, height 6ft ski style: aggressive.

Should the DIN be higher???

How will I know, will it be when I get off the first lift at the top Goats eye and find out that my boots keep popping out?

Should I carry a screwdriver in your bag?? I thought about this bit seems a little dangerous?

Your boot sole length and age are also a factors in DIN setting.

Everyone I ski with, carries a multi-tool in their pack :D

If you are uncertain, call into a resort ski shop before you use your skis. Ask them to check the binding setup for you.

Of course, age 42 (which is just out of my thirties and absolutely light years away from 50) and boot length can't remember but boot size is 10.5

Why does age affect DIN settings?
