Forget about the big tea, coffee and electric kettle debate and instead drink beer or wine out of the bottle, no need to worry about the size of tea cups and also saves on the washing up 8) 8)

bandit wrote:Ally, it's quite normal for rental accommodation over a lot of Europe, to not have kettles, or large Teacups or Mugs. Not all nationalities drink tea like the British. You could take a travel kettle with you, we did for years, along with a mug each :D

Foreign holidaymakers form a rather small % of visitor numbers for P&V I reckon.

You dont get kettles in Finland/Lapland but they do provide coffee machines. They seem to not drink tea and prefer to drink proper coffee, suits me fine.
I'm a laydee

I'm afraid I'm tea total, and I don't like coffee either. So I suppose it's no good me going to Finland or Lapland.

And Nutella jars. Not necessarily washed.
Yeah, I knew that.

Unless I misunderstood what Laura said, I think P&V are trying to get more British customers, and I was just trying to be helpful. A kettle and a few cups wouldn't cost them much,

I stopped at a P&V property and vowed never ever to stay in one again. The lack of kettle and mugs didnt even register. It was the scrum for check in at 7am having travelled overnight on Eurostar, being sent down to the luggage room to wait in temps below freezing, complete lack of help or understanding from the reception staff, and ridiculously rude French people stopping in the place that was more of a concern. Being slope side (this was in Val Thorens) was nice, but the way the place was run was nothing short of a disgrace. It was booked through Inghams, and the local Inghams rep did not want to know as it was managed by P&V themselves and any issues had to be taken up with people who chose not to speak any English when it suited them.
You might now begin to appreciate, as this was not just my first French skiing experience, but my first skiing experience altogether, why I have found Austria, Italy and Switzerland to be more pleasureable experiences.
I will however not stop with P&V ever again, thats for certain.

Tony, your experience would have been common to all French rental agencies. That's the way they work, and the French nation on holiday seem to enjoy it. As for VT, hmmmmm, been there, wrote up the experience....

I will never return.

I've stayed in 4 apartment residences in France - two in Val Thorens, one in La Rosiere, and one (the P&V one) in Bandol on the south coast. And all the staff at all of them have been very pleasant to me. They have been very patient with my stumbling French, and they've sorted out any little problems I had with the apartment - like in the last one we stayed at in VT the ski lockers were all smashed up and in a terrible state and the estate agency staff said we could keep our skis and boots in our room.

But I must agree with you that VT is a pretty pushy sort of place - although I found it was all the nationalities that tended to be a bit like that. Whereas Bandol was full of extremely well behaved French families enjoying their summer holidays.
