I had been working with a colleague with it as well. Its worrying a few people at work in case they get it, but its no good worrying. You can only take sensible precautions and if you get it, you get it. But the biggest problem is people who think they have it will just not isolate themselves for a few days. They go into surgery,s, chemists and shops. If only they would stay away for a few days it would not spread so much. In my line of work its important we keep going as we supply so many other essential services. In China they are probably going a bit overboard, but they had to really as they got slated for the way they dealt with Bird flu, they are having to be more cautious. Tamiflu will only help you if you actually have symptoms. At the moment any one person in this country is allowed ONE course of tamiflu, no more so you need to use your ONE course wisely. Hope your Son is okay Tony.

At the end of the day it is flu, rest and plenty of fluids should do the trick, as for the complete paranoria about catching it, I come into contact with hundreds of people daily of course I am gonna get it, but I guess I'll just get the bell out and sing out unclean.

I guess you will be high on the agenda as soon as they get the vaccine sorted. I know how you feel, as my OH is also diabetic and although he's fit and healthy, I worry if he does catch it then it could be nasty. Still, there's not much that we can do about it. :(

Tony - hope your son feels better soon.

As I understand when the vaccine becomes available there will be enough for the entire population, I imagine every-one will be offered one, giving the 'at risk' people first. The more people that have one the better it will be a combating the spread. It was predicted to be available by August.

August?
I will rush off to my local supermarket now and buy enough food to last until August, and then batten all the hatches/doors, cancel all my holidaymakers, let all the flowers in my pots outside die, block up my letter box, and sell all the cattle so that we don't have to go outside at all for a couple of weeks.

Or do you think I'm over-reacting a bit?
