If you are not familiar with it, can I suggest you make sure you listen to it. You WILL remember it, if you are old enough. Its sort of right for Mayrhofen. Then again, I loaded a shedload of old 80s stuff in readiness for the trip, as I find there is something strangely 80s about Austria anyway, and something so absolutely right in listening to 80s music whilst skiing. I dont quite know why. I ended up with stuff like:
The Lotus Eaters - First Picture of you
The Passions - I'm in love with a German filmstar
Big Country - Chance
OMD - Souvenir
Visage - Fade to grey
Flock of Seagulls - I ran
Roxy Music - Same old scene
Martha & The Muffins - Echo beach
as well as the whole of the brilliant Forever Young album by Alphaville. I kid you not.....

2) Sunshine - SoulDrive ;)
3) Schism - Tool
4) Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots
5) Stand inside your love - Smashing Pumkins
6) Red morning light - Kings of Leon
7) My Sharona - The Knack
8) Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
9) Drop it like it's hot - Snoop Doggy Dog
10) Indifference - Pearl Jam
11) Enter Sandman - Metallica
Have to say i'm quite surprised by some of the rocky numbers from the "older than me" people on here, Tony H - good work on smashing pumkins, Admin - Some great tunes.
Babyshambles, no offence, but Dave Grohl could play all of the libertines/babyshambles instruments better than any of the band members.
His talent is reflected in the foo fighters long standing global success, how many people in america have heard of babyshambles?

Oooh, contentious.
I am a Foos fan, but its a much more global sound that our Londoners make. I have Libertines first 2 albums, and theres some great songs, although I didnt buy any Babyshambles ambums just because Doherty is an a***hole. But there is no disguising his talent. And the Britishness of his sound too.
I dont disagree that Dave G and the Foos could make mincemeat of their stuff, but I think its everyones uniqueness that stands them apart. But Doherty is still an a***hole of the highest order.

my ipod is imaginary too but on it I would have the following (a bit more commercial than most of yours):-
1. bloc party - so here we are (by a long, long way)
and then in no particular order
kasabian - club foot
foos - doa
the smiths - how soon is now
the aloof - one night stand
mansun - wide open space
mark ronson - ooh wee
gorillaz - feel good inc and/or dare
chicane - offshore
massive attack - dissolved girl
that was fun! maybe I should start wearing the ipod after all...

Hey I can't help being a little eclectic, it suits my personalities :)
Chicane - Offshore is a great choice, how about them doing No Ordinary Morning, that would sound great on an empty mountain at 8.30am!

Surely some banging beats are what's needed.... I love my indie like the next man but try some euphoric trance.... it's like shepherds pie sandwiches...

Cant agree I am afraid. I never liked Japan, they tried to be too different, and that cover of I Second That Emotion was one of the worst covers I can remember. I always disliked David Sylvian as well. Raving woofter.
