Brendan Behan, an Irish playwright and author, once famously remarked that the first item on the agenda of any new organization set up in Ireland was the "split". This theme was subsequently taken up by the Monty Python team with the People's Front of Judea sketch . Lets hope that J2Ski is not descending into such silly territory :x.

Lets just say that there are now (at least) 2 J2Ski group trips and not fuss about which is the original or the best. Any group that gets together to enjoy a ski trip is a good thing and should not form the basis for any dissent .

So play nice everybody ;).

Brilliant Tony. You've been back on here for five minutes and managed to cause division and argument!( And without even trying!)

"don't try to suggest that the original group has split up because it hasn't!"
I never said nor implied that. Please read my post carefully as "the breakaway group" as you called it just decided to do things a little differant than the original crew. We too, had in excess of 22 last year and a jolly good time was had by all and I expect all who go "group sking" in whatever form will also have a great time. It is not a competition. As Wanderer so aptly put it "Lets just say that there are now (at least) 2 J2Ski group trips and not fuss about which is the original or the best. Any group that gets together to enjoy a ski trip is a good thing and should not form the basis for any dissent "

Oh....and welcome back Tony :)

pretty much, yep.
The relevance of mentioning divorce was that my ex wife was a good skier and we enjoyed lots of trips even though she was a mardy arsed misery most of the time, and my new partner had never skied before we met but had always wanted to (her ex husband was non sporty and uninterested) so she made the decision to try it and so I'm now going away with a learning early intermediate who is already hooked!! Just a different dynamic but fabulous to have someone so enthusiastic with me.

Anyway, I did actually ask if the trip was still operating, but I had no idea it had got all competitive with 2 trips each thinking theirs was better than the other. I can only guess people wanted a different choice hence the splinter group. I don't know if Ally G is still behind the original group but I certainly remember her being the driving factor behind it, and then hilarious post trip reports of how many times she fell over!!!!

As you were......

No competition as far as we are concerned. We just carry on with the trip as before and welcome newcomers. AllyG is still with us and still falling over, it's an occupational hazard.

We try to cater for all sorts and this can make finding accommodation difficult, e.g. single rooms with low supplements can be tricky. We also like a big ski area for the more energetic members of the group. This attention to detail doesn't suit everyone, hence the splinter group doing their own thing.

Room for all on the piste, that's the important thing.
I can see my house from here...
