Hi guys
Well, just over 2 weeks and counting...wondered if anyone hd any suggestions about reasonably priced places to stop for lunch?
I'm only thinking of a sandwich/baguette/burger type meal, nothing fancy, and I'm not averse to cpming down back into town - we've done this for last 2 years in LDA and it doesn't bother me.
I'm having morning lessons whilst I'm there, but no idea where we'll end up so can't be any more specific about areas or anything, but if anyone can suggest anywhere, much appreciated.
Joanne

In ski resorts there is a fairly universal rule of thumb that you pay for the convenience of staying up on the mountain to eat and drink. Ski down to the valley to save a few euros (I know it mounts up over the week), or stay high and be prepared to have your cap nailed on. The reality is that the on the mountain establishments have higher overheads so have to charge the punter more. Fair enough, but some seem to take the p!$$
I skied Tignes/Vd'I two weeks ago and, due to the weather and the earliness of the season the mountain restaurants weren't open so I can't compare prices. In Val, I paid 8€ for a ham and cheese baguette with a bottle of Perrier: a bit steep but not worth fretting about. In Tignes the prices were very reasonable.
I can particularly recommend Le Dahu (bottom of Tufs lift) in Val Claret. The formule skieur three course lunch was great value at 14€! Pepe 2000 (just across the road) was nice too. I would suggest you try your luck in the restaurants in the village in Vd'I and, if they seem expensive, then you could make the short hop over to Val Claret and try Le Dahu. Not very French, but for burgers Aspen (<100m from the bottom of the Bollin/Fresse lift) is excellent.Have a good one  .

8 Euros isn't so bad, we were paying around 7 in LDA last year for a baguette and a coke.
Thanks for the suggestions

Two choices over in Fornet, either the one at the bottom under ther cable car station, or at mid station called le signal, both are pretty good. There is another to the right of the piste as you ski back to the bottom, called Edelwiss (I think!), food is superb, but with a price to match.
In Val, the Banana Bar should be reopened by the time you go, that's always been very good value for food.
The one at the bottom at La Daille just across the bridge is good.
The Follie Douce is ok, though not as good as it used to be before they took over.
Right hand side of path on way back to Val from Santons piste, there's a nice one.
The big one on he Grand Motte used to be ok, though I can't recall stopping there in the last couple of years.
The Toviere is ok as is the one below it on the Prariond piste.
There a great little one at the top of the Chaudannes lift above Tignes La Lac, we usually stop off the for Vin Chaud before skiing back home. Well worth a lunch stop too.

3. Le Bar de L'Ouillette - at the bottom of the Madeleine piste, on the Solaise above Val d'Isere.
4. The Alpage/Soli - at the top of the Chaudannes lift above Le Lac, and the closest mountain restaurant to les Brevieres.
5. Les Clochetons - at the bottom of the Santons piste, just before you get into the Val d'Isere village.
6. Le Signal - at the top of the Fornet cable car in Val d'Isere.
7. Le Triffolet - lowest restaurant above La Daille, by the OK and Criterium pistes etc.
8. The Edelweiss - on the blue Manguard piste above Le Fornet.
9. La Folie Douce/La Fruitiere - at the top of the cable car up from La Daille.

No idea what the name of the restaurant is but it's at the bottom of the Madelaine lift so could be the one OA mentioned, but if the weather is good they do a fantastic BBQ which is very reasonable. Have a great time!
