As we enter the last few weeks of the season...

Sixty or so ski areas remain in operation and will be open for the next week or two.

Some of Austria's glaciers are still boasting depths exceeding four metres and most of the remaining resorts have had snow this week. Most of France's resorts will shut after this weekend, with Chamonix, Tignes and Val Thorens open for another week. La Clusaz ends its season this weekend having had over a metre of fresh snow in the final week! In Italy only a handful of resorts, including Cervinia, remain open. In Switzerland nearly 20 ski areas remain open and fresh snow has taken the depth up to six metres in Engelberg.

As always at this time of year, you should check opening times and days directly with the resort before travelling.

Scotland has had a late-season top-up and Cairngorm plans to be open this weekend; Nevis Range and Glencoe may also open but check with their respective operators before travelling.

Enjoy it while you can!

I don't think many resorts opened last weekend as wind was too strong for lifts to operate safely. Zermatt was closed, so was Chamonix and Verbier. really disappointed for people who trained 2 years for Patrouillle des Glaciers which was aslo called off soon after the start. And no-one still skied from the ramp that was built in Verbier for the bid to set a new speed record. Last year there was no snow, this year it was first too much snow, then high winds cancelled the event. But more snow is on the way this week. I think people will be touring till June.
