I have just got back from La Thuile....Italy but joined to La Rosiere...France. Apparently the Crystal reps have been stopped hosting guests to France and can only ski with them in Italy. It is absolutely crazy...and will not go over all the relevant(and non relevant posts)other than to say that hosting is NOT teaching providing that it is made clear by the TO that they are not providing lessons.
If the French...or whoever get away with this blatant act of "jobs for the Boys" they will bring in another law which only allows French people to Apres Ski host around the local bars and clubs.
Vote with your feet....don't go to French resorts (I do like them though). This may do several things
1. Force the Major TO's to take legal action 'cause they are losing business
2. Make ESF get off their high horse 'cause they are losing business
3. Make the EU enforce EU law...but then again if the French don't like an EU law they usually ignore it anyway..
3. Play them at rugby again and give them another thrashing! :)
Vive La anywhere else in Europe!!

Glad to hear it as it nice to feel some lurve on an otherwise frosty topic -)
Treat em mean keep em keen -)
Who knows.....
But i think we should try and keep this on topic really.
Not sure I'm with the boycotting France line.
I'd first like to see a response to the question I posed earlier: who and how is affected and would anyone seriously not to go France as a result?
The hosted days I have been on have always been well attended so I presume a lot of people will be, I doubt enough to make them stay away from France however.
Would it stop me going to some of the best ski areas the world has to offer? No
BUT
It will make me think twice. It has made me stop and think of other places to go and next year it will most likely be Italy and Austria.
I have used the service before, although not on every trip, but i like to have the choice.
One thing that is for certain though is that i will not use ESF again unless 100% necessary. Even as far as not booking lessons through a TO incase they use them.

As It stands it would not affect me as I'm not in to ski hosting, rather do my own thing as I find it an enjoyable part of the holiday ie: planning the routes & runs the night before.I can stop when I want & where, This year was the first time I did & joined the group for hosting on the first day & I didn't like it.
The thing that bugged me most was the ski scramble as I call it, the group gathers to be told where they will be going & when the host pushes off they all follow in a bunch & some forget to look behind before starting off, understandable in a way because they don't want to be left behind & lose sight of the others by waiting for skiers coming from behind to go past.
On one occasion while I was waiting for space to push off I lost sight of the group & ended up at a fork on the piste & none of the group were to be seen on either, fortunately another host from our chalet came by & I asked where my group would have gone & he told me the most likely route, round a bend & over a hill I found them waiting, totally out of sight from the junction.
