Not something I can consider so far in advance, we are somewhat late deciders!
But good luck.

Thanks Dids :D

If where we're going, and when, suits you I suppose you could always come as well even if you're a late booker. You might just have to stay in your own accommodation, and you wouldn't get the group discount. But we could all still meet up in the resort :D

So you ARE planning to go on this trip then?

... hmmm I would have thought that was a bit obvious? [maybe I'm tired...]

Maybe you're tired.

Ally, great job....fantastic effort, and I hope it all comes together...well done!

Thanks Randyrat, and I'm really sorry about hi-jacking your thread for a few pages whilst we discussed printing J2Ski T-shirts

We've now got a very healthy 16 people interested in going on this trip (including me, Tony).

Tignes has caught up with Chamonix, January has almost caught up with March (only one vote less), catered chalets are one ahead of hotels, flying is still top, so far we don't have any beginners, and people do seem to be willing to share accommodation either with their own friends or J2Skiers rather than pay the solo supplement, and half of us will need to hire equipment.

My personal preference would be for Tignes and January, because I have less work in January and I could go on the direct train very easily from London to Bourg-St-Maurice and then get the bus (15 euros return) and 1 hour to Tignes. Or, if there were several of us, I could get a taxi which would be much quicker. Plus, January is generally cheaper than March.

But Chamonix is much closer to Geneva which would be better for flights. The only bad thing I've read about Chamonix so
far is that it doesn't have chalets. Tignes has loads (as well as hotels and self-catering).

I think I'll post the link back up and let this run a while longer. So, if you're interested in coming and you haven't done it yet, would you please complete the survey.

Thanks everyone :D

I've had some more responses now, thanks :D

Tignes is ahead of Chamonix by 1 vote, and March is 1 vote ahead of January.

Could those who are interested in coming in January or March to Tignes or Chamonix, and who have completed the survey please pm me to let me know which dates and resort they would prefer and give me details of how many will be coming with them.

And if you haven't done the survey yet but you are interested in coming, would you please do the survey first and then pm me. I will remove the other options now so it will only be a choice of Chamonix or Tignes and January or March, plus the other questions.

I will ring a few of the TO's now and get some idea of prices etc.

I am still intending to make it a group booking for the accommodation only and then possibly sort out some shared transfers from railway stations and airports.

Thanks,

Ally

I think AllyG is very brave to take on the organisation of this, lets face it, tricky ski trip.

But if we pick a snow sure resort, with half decent accom in a lowish season price range, what's not to like?

If you go on your own you can end up in a chalet or hotel with people you don't know and perhaps don't like. At least this way you have some comfort that those who want to go on the trip have a similar outlook to yourself. There's nothing stopping you skiing alone if it doesn't work out!

I'm up for it.
I can see my house from here...

:

:):) Tony_H, I was kidding! ;)
...However, I'd rather prefer to be tired after some yard-work (at home) on a Sunday, than @work on a MONDAY !:(!
(... and on top of it, I am typing on my phone, so since the graphic-smileys don't seem to work, I'm trying to use the character-combos for them, which I am not sure if it will work either...)

Alright!!! I see that the character-combos to create smileys did work, so I'm glad to learn that!!! Now I'm wishing all of you in the UK a nice afternoon, and I'm going back to work :(, cause I still have a long day ahead of me (it's only 11:30AM in my time-zone) :)

Are you sure? Some people may have completed twice when you kept changing the questions? Or did you reset the answers?

From what I can tell, the SurveyMonkey software might be keeping a log of the identities of the ones who already took the survey; I'm saying that because when I clicked on the link to see if there are any new changes -after I've already taken the survey once- it just displayed their end-of-survey notification page. So, unless people use a different computer when they re-take the survey, I think the total count should accurately reflect the real number of people interested.
