Well, here we are all back in one piece after another great family ski holiday, the highlights Little W passed her third star just bronze and Gold to go ..... And she also had her first snowboard lesson.
When we arrived last Sunday the weather was +11 and the snow had taken a pounding with the temps too warm during the day/night to produce any artificial stuff the resort was desperate for some fresh snow.
The resort pistes where hard packed with icy patches in the afternoon which was not a problem as we like to ski all conditions, ice just ensures that you have your weight on the correct ski. The best snow was found up in Flaine but there was very little off piste of any significance as most was skied out but over all the snow conditions were a lot better than I had expected, in fact the resort had done a fantastic job in keeping the pistes skiable.
Tuesday we had the great pleasure of skiing with Snowb4ndit and Scapula, thanks guys you gave us a great day and we all really enjoyed your company and Little W spent the rest of week finding dropped poles and gloves for scapula to collect !!!
And then the snow arrived not much just enough to freshen the pistes and cover some of the green bits but with the snow came the drop in temps with allowed the cannons to blow all night,
as we had three or five cannons outside my bedroom window and since I like to sleep with the window open they made a bloody racket all night.
So all in all a really good holiday varied piste conditions which we all quite enjoyed but the resort does need fresh snow fall but if you're heading out soon don't panic as the pistes are still in pretty good order.
I'll post some pics when I can be bothered
Bon Ski

Hello Wickers.
How different conditions were bearing in mind we were in the Alps the same week!
I have spoken to several people who were away last week who said much the same as you, but put it more bluntly, reporting "crap snow" and "blad pistes" and "water skiing" so sounds like you got lucky that where you were wasn't too bad.
Mind you, you make of it what you can as you don't get much choice once you're there!
Glad little one progressed well. I did get an email from SB to say how delighted they were to have ski'd with you, and something about your haircut.....!?!
Glad you're back safe and sound. Back to the roads of the UK tomorrow.....

We're in Flaine at present. Snow is desperately needed but that said there is still some excellent skiing to be had. It remains very cold: -13 at 9am in resort, and the snow canons are doing a great job. (It was still -15 at the bottom of the Les Molliets chair at 10.40).
Decent snow still above Les Carroz and the Stade above Morillon was superb this morning, and completely empty.
A few runs are shut, but some of those seem to be shut to preserve snow for the busier weeks in February.
