Apres Snow Boots

Is there any difference between apres snow boots and hiking boots? Instead of buying snow boots, can we use waterproof hiking boots instead (Karrimor's for example)? Appreciate if anyone can help. Thanks.

I think hiking boots are fine, my family uses them now, the walking paths and social areas are mostly cleared of snow, the only time boots would be better if there is fresh deep snow.....or if you have the inclination to walk off piste!

I buy snow boots for Little W, but we don't wear them 8)
