Hi all,

I went skiing as a teenager when I was 16 with the school in Bulgaria. Went for a week in borovits (sorry if spelling is wrong)
Since then I have never ski'd again but quite fancy doing so again.
My best mate has done a fair bit of skiing but not been himself for couple of years so we suggested us going for a week next christmas
in Andora.
Hope to get some good tips on starting out again for me and for when we book out trip for the both of us getting the best deal.
Also, I live 25 mins drive away from the Chill Factore in Manchester

Hiya and welcome to the forum,

If you want to ski at Christmas and wan't to stay in Europe you need to pick a highish altitude resort. I am a bit of a France fan and have been to Les Deux Alps and Alp d'huez at New Year but tend to go later in January to have a bit more snow security! There should be snow in Andora but I haven't been so can't comment.

Other options would be Val Thorens or Tignes, both of which are high enough to ensure early season snow with VT giving the potential of all the three valleys if the snow is great.

Depending on how long it's been since school perhaps have a couple of refresher lessons in Manchester just so you can make the most of the reals snow when you get there!

Hope you find somewhere you fancy and have fun!

Have lessons while you're away as well. don't let your mate 'teach' you as chances are you'll feel pressured and it may put you off for ever.

Reckon youll be fine almost anywhere right now-the snow is fallen BIG time in Italy, was talking to a few folk in Bormio the other day and they have had to cancel all the training because the powder is too deep (and is lying ontop of a good base anyway)
Im away on boxing day and am confident ill be fine at 1200m to 3000m in Bormio

Snow most anywhere at the moment. I'm off to Le Corbier on 20th and the base depth is already 85cm with more snow expected on Mon/Tues.
Agree with the others ...get refresher lessons before you go .do not let your mate teach you unless he/she id an instructor
Carving leaves me all on edge
