Looking for suggestions for second ski holiday. So one up from complete beginners. Family comprises parents and 13 year old son. Its our 25th wedding anniversary so would prefer prettier resort rather than purpose built but open to all suggestions. Apres ski not important other than some nice restaurants. Would prefer somewhere with wider intermediate runs rather than narrow roads-during-summer type!
Ideally looking to fly from Scotland with shorter rather than longer transfer time at the other side as we have a 4 hour journey already at the home side to get to Glasgow/ Edinburgh. Also would prefer lifts close to accommodation.

Any suggestions very welcome.

Selva sounds like a decent option for you guys.

Also consider Alpi di Suis\Seiser Alm. Tons of confidence building runs up there.

I recommend considering Ortisie (just down the road from Selva).

Good luck

Selva can be a bit difficult if you are not intermediate or above as there is some long uphill walks to ski school and lifts. I would suggest somewhere like Montalbert or La Tania both in France, they both offer compact quiet and friendly chocolate box villages not too busy and very near (1 or 2 lifts) to some of the biggest ski areas on the Alps.

Have been skiing for about 30 years and would suggest Champoluc, Italy-about 1 hour 30 minutes from Turin. Small old fashioned village with plenty of wide open blue and red runs (not really suitable for beginners). Good choice of Hotels, 2 to 5-star, and some excellent restaurants. As the resort is not on the main list of ski companies it tends to attract in the main an Italian crowd. Also, prices are very reasonable when compared to the mainline French and Swiss/Austrian resorts. I don't think you would be dissapointed. From Colin
