New Year Ski - Serre Chevalier

Villeneuve is full of quaint buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants, and its got a lovely river flowing through it, and Monetier is a very pretty little place.
Briancon is the big town, and it not really a ski place, but its not ugly at all. In fact, part of it are a Unesco world heritage site. Or something.
Wickers hasn't been for a while - he seems to have forgotten what it's like.. )
Sorry old buddy but I beg to differ, granted there are a lot worse places, I take it that huge ugly black building is still hanging around the centre of Villeneuve, the old town is nice but most of the buildings around town are new and lack character and some are just downright ugly.
Thats not Villeneuve. Thats across the river in Le Bez and at the Centre Commercial, where the lifts go up from. The village itself is quaint and rustic, same as Monetier.
So, really only 1 of the 4 bases is the ugly one.

Hi, is there anyone out there who has been to Serre Chevalier New Year/early Jan, feeling severe snow depravation and need a fix soon - any suggestions for early snow gratefully received

Have I been to Serre Che? Yes.
Did I love it? Yes
Would I go back? Yes
Have I been at New Year? No, as I never go skiing at peak times.
Should you go? Absolutely
Get on with getting it booked!!!

It is a great ski area but some of the villages are not particularly easy on the eye.

Wot Tony says :D
Have been there four times and one of those times was at Christmas.
I don't think you will be disappointed.

Not true. Chantmerle is the only one I'd avoid stopping at as it is purpose built and a bit bleak, but the access is excellent from there.Ian Wickham wrote:It is a great ski area but some of the villages are not particularly easy on the eye.
