Skiset, Europe's leading ski and snowboard rental chain, has today unveiled the Skiset ski boot liner that is set to revolutionise the world of ski boot rental. This innovative heat mouldable ski boot liner is available for purchase from Skiset rental locations around Europe and can be inserted into any rented ski boot shell offering a more comfortable and hygienic alternative to standard rental options. The Skiset ski boot liner also offers an economical alternative to buying a pair of ski boots costing from just €69 (RRP) and being reusable year after year.

Offering a tailored fit that previously only owning ski boots could provide, the Skiset ski boot liner has a heat mouldable foot bed that sculpts around the owners foot through normal usage. The body of the Skiset ski boot liner is made of high quality, durable, heat retaining materials including a padded synthetic wool upper and reinforced shin and calf panels.

"With the Skiset ski boot liner we are offering skiers the opportunity to experience all the benefits of owning their own boots without the need to actually buy and transport them around," says Philippe Koiransky, Managing Director of Skiset.

"60% of UK skiers currently hire ski boots when they travel to Europe and we appreciate that renting boots does have its drawbacks. The Skiset ski boot liner offers the best of both worlds - they offer a value alternative, premium personalised comfort, are smaller and easier to pack into luggage and are also machine washable so they stay fresh after each trip."

"Once customers have purchased the Skiset ski boot liner they can benefit in other ways too. Their rental details are held on the Skiset system so the rental process can be made quicker and more efficient on subsequent visits across our network of shops whether they have booked independently or through a partner tour operator. We are very excited about introducing this unprecedented solution to the skiing community – a solution for beginners and regular skiers alike."

The Skiset ski boot liner has been developed by specifically for Skiset by Salomon and is available in two models, male and female. Sizes are available with variables including foot size, foot width and calf size and are compatible with any ski boots. For the 2010/11 season the Personalized Ski Boot Liner will be available at most Skiset rental locations in France and selected resorts in Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Andorra.

IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE EXCITING THAN THIS! Well, until it snows anyhow... 8)

Come and have a look - we'll have a couple on the J2Ski Stand at the Ski and Snowboard Show this week.

If you like the convenience of travelling light, but want a more personal (and pleasant) fit than your usual hire boot, then this could be the answer.

In principle this sounds promising. It would be particularly good for early skiers. Also, many folk are a tad unhappy about the hygiene element of boot hire. It would make the try on time quicker.
There are cost benefits to the supplier too. If the punter has "shelled" out an inner, shouldn't there be a reduction in boot hire cost? The shop is selling liners, buying in only shells, and saving fitting time.
Dunno what CEM will make of this!

It's a really good idea. I like the idea of keeping 1 liner, and wonder how this concept will cope with the variance in internal volume of different brands of boot shells.

One possibility to solve the volume problem would be something like Head's FCS (full custom system). This is an customisable insert that reduces the volume of the boot. All the rental boots could have a wide fitting, and inserts could be assessed at the same time as the custom liner. The inserts weigh very little, and when transported on the liner would add no volume to baggage. They might even protect the liner in a packed travel bag.
because I'm so inclined .....

Trencher, I had those inserts in my last Head boots. The boots were comfy when they were new

Mostly because they were too wide )
