Or you could choose a resort with glacier skiing such as Saas-Fee or Zermatt.

Although a very nice town, I skied Adelboden a couple of years ago and found the links between runs very poor not because of poor snow but one link you had to catch a bus from the cable car and another couple were linked by ground level rope tows which were a real pain, they also had their fair share of flats between lifts, not overly expensive and seemed to used by elderly none skiers, which possibly explained the lack of any effort by the resort to improve the links.

Ian-It seems to me its been many years you were last in Adelboden and you need a refresher, the resort has dramatically improved the transportation infrastructure on the slopes, here is a link to the resort web-site (the winter Pages are not running yet)

It seems to me helmet it has not been many years, Mrs W and myself visited Adelboden in March 2009, If they have improved the lift system in the between time well done to them it is about time.

Ian- we have been going there regularly ever since the children are born over 27 years ago. In the beginning transport to the slopes to Geils/ Hahnemoos was by bus. To Schentenalp was by 2 seater chairlift with a hard wood bottom and just a cover for the knees.
Last visit was at the beginning of January this year and no these improvements were not done now but gradually over the years.
March indeed is slow but a good time to go is in the height of the season, end Dec, Jan. and Feb. second week of Jan. the World Cup comes to Adelboden with 2 slaloms.
I just looked again on the web-site and it is snowing there now, if the snow stays I will do my ski opening early Dec. there.

Happy skiing to you all.

The worst ground level rope tow was to the left of the mid-station telecabine, heading towards the slalom slope, perhaps I am just a lazy skier these days but saying that the price of the lift pass being so high I would have expected a slightly more organised lift system especially from the Swiss.
But with that said and done we had great ski conditions plenty of untracked powder to be found, our trip up the Tschentenalp was eventful on the first day we were faced with thick fog even with a decent pair of goggles you could not see your hand in front of your face, which lead to a very interesting run down to the bottom, we managed to stay on our feet but we could not follow the piste and ended up off piste many times which was not particularly good seeing that we were skiing blind, so no racing down the empty piste that morning, I don't think I have ever skied so slowly.
