A few photos from a day in Zinal last week. If anyone knows what purpose the scooter serves, please¬ let me know!
Situated at the bottom of the slide zone is the Avalanche Training Centre, with the sign centre right!

Its for bashing the narrow areas of the piste )
Well quite, hardly any pistes, middle of nowhere, hardly any English spoken. It's not surprising the slopes are mostly empty :D
The back wheel had been replaced by a solid drum for sure, and there was a wire wrapped around it. Then again, the pisteurs seem to prefer lobbing dynamite by hand
Saw one pisteur ski past carrying a tube out in front of him about 2 feet long, wrapped in white paper or plastic, and his colleague followed about 50 metres behind with a box that had a handle. ....Hint...neither was smoking

Interesting piece of kit,the scooter, the back "wheel" looks like a winch drum,do they use it like a cheese wire to create slab avvys on the slope?
