Hi we are staying in Mayrhofen at the Gutshof Zillertal soon. I need to buy a ski pass and hire skis for two people. We need both for 4 days skiing. Please can someone tell me where to book them and whether I need to do it before we go. Also, are there different types of pass? I have asked our hotel staff but they gave me a website address which is not helping.
Thanks Sharon

Hello Simontiggy,
I recently just came back from Mayrhofen and had a fantastic time as we was there when they had largest snowfall all season ! But more importantly there are 2 type of pass's (i think) one that only allows you to ski just in the penken area or there is a super ski pass which we had because we got our passes with Nelson when we was there, i think if you get yours with a company you get the super ski pass, as for rental we rented at the green room this was because they offered twin tip ski's; however the do offer a good range of packages for all abilities, at a really good price, i ended up paying 64 euros for the whole week !
Heres the site if your interested: http://www.greenroom.at/en/100705/100673/ski_snowboard_verleih.html
I'm sure Tony will be along to give you some handy information !

The Green Room does more "rad" gear aimed at boarders and freestylers, but you will get some good gear, and that was a good price.
Sport 2000 up by the Penken Gondola is not the cheapest, but you will get better gear, a place to store it, and good service from friendly people.
You can search for online ski hire in Mayrhofen through Sport 2000 or skiset but my experience of Mannis Ski Rental thorugh skiset was not a good one, and I ended up going back to change boots 3 times, and skis once.
As for lift passes, you cant get them discounted. Your best bet is to buy at the Kasse by the Penken lift station in resort. For 4 days you will have the local pass, or pay extra for the whole Zillertaller area. You automatically get the Super Zillertall ski pass when you have a 6 day pass, this enables you to ski anywhere including Hintertux glacier, and down the valley at Zell etc.
Have a great time.

Just a small bump.
Off to the big M on Saturday 13th March. 4 of our group including me and OH going by air, and 9 going over land. Don't ask, long story. Age range 15 - 74yrs. (I'm not either of those. :))
Like a kid at Christmas at the minute. Keep re arranging the pile of ski kit laid out ready for packing.
