Hi,

I have just (as in the last 5 mins!) booked a week in Claviere with my girlfriend. We are just about absolute beginner boarders and have accordingly booked lessons. Just wondering what you think of the resort generally, for boarders and for beginners.

I've been to Claviere. March 2004. With Equity ski, stayed in Passero Pellegrino Hotel.

It's a nice resort, not too far from Turin. The border to France is right at the end of the village, you can walk to Montgenevre for a drink, but we got a taxi.

We had some beginners with us and they loved it. It's great for beginners, but if our kids hadn't been younger then we'd have got bored after a few days.
However, you can buy an extension to Montgenevre and ski there (I don't know if things have changed and it's now on the same pass)

You can also go to the the rest of the Milky Way on your pass. Some of our group got a taxi, there and back, as it's a long ski and you'd have to turn round and come back almost as soon as you got there. They loved it. They went to Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx. As you are beginners you might find the local areas fine for the week.

Whilst we were there it was very very cold and we had lots of new snow.
It is is a nice place, not too expensive, friendly. I think some of the drags have been replaced by chairs since we were there as there was some investment due to it being a training area for the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Sorry to say I don't know how the area was for boarders, but I would say it should be fine (especially as less drags now).

Also while we were there one of the reps at another hotel was organising a trip to Turin to watch Juventus play Deportivo in a European game. My husband and son went and had a great time.
