Welcome to J2ski :D If you book a lesson with an instructor, they will be able to give you accurate feedback on what's happening in your turns.

I can vouch for sofa ski school. Mrs Smoothie and I watched it loads last year before our first lesson free ski trip and we were carving like the pro's (at least we thought we were which is the main thing).

We just watched it over and over again, practising in our heads before sleep about 3 weeks before we went. I think some if it went in by mental osmosis.

I watched that sofa ski school video some time ago when i started realizing that I wasn't much involved in acknowledging my technique.Believe me...after some days viewing that video on youtube(and a few others) and imagining myself on the ski slope in those specific positions made a huge difference. The first time I skied after that was something like this: "I know what I have to do.Focus!" and the second I started going downhill magic happened! I was carving quite nicely...It was amazing....

Sounds like a great idea for me but very similar to the 'Go Ski book and DVD' I have from Amazon. Has anyone used both? Is it worth buying the Sofa School as well?

I have Go Ski, mainly because I devour technique books. The DVD is heavy on beginner/inters, light on a bit more advanced. Whereas, "The All Mountain Skier" is the other way round.
