Dilema- boots or holiday?

Wow, this really is a dilema.

I've now got the ski bug in a pretty serious way and have decided to get my own boots (looking at Tecnicas due to my wide feet, but i digress.)

I only got back from Andorra at the weekend and, (as some of you who have helped me out with some suggestions already know) I am toying with the idea of another trip at Easter.

Here's the problem. Do i shell out £250 on boots now and risk not being able to find a tasty enough last minute deal at Easter?

Or, opt for rental boots whilst away, risk the pain, put £250 torwards the holiday and buy boots in the sales?

Having not owned boots before i am unsure of which is the best route and how much of a risk I'm taking. I'd love to be in a postion not to have to worry about the money side of things...but I'm not...so i have to!!

In my opinion....there is no dilemma!!!! Holiday all the way and try out different boots to get to know what you really want before you buy!You`ll probably get a better deal on boots at the end of the season anyway, so financially you could win on all counts! Whilst your own boots are amazing to ski in,I would rather ski in clogs than not have the holiday at all!!!!

Do nothing. Put your pennies under your pillow, sprinkle some dreams on them every night. Book about 3 days in advance, something basic as it's the skiing that matters, go to the hire shop explain you want to buy boots and want to try a few and that when you decide tell him they are at end of season and you don't expect to pay rental for what you are about to purchase.

My advice, is do the holiday then see if there is enough left in the kitty for the boots.

Now on to the boots, if you have slightly unusual feet (you say they are wide) then you really should see a proper fitter for boot advice. A well fitted boot will really make the most incredible difference to your Skiing over the next few years.

Well fitted boots = enjoyment in all your future holidays + a big improvement in your skiing. They aren't even comparable to rental boots.

Holiday instead of boots = a few ski days.

I know what I would do.

Buy some new boots on a new 0% credit card and book a late deal to use them.
Lifes too short.

They aare all right ! Get a late ski bargain pick a resort that has lots of boot shops ...Try they before you buy them
If you have wide feet or high insteps hunt for bargains in Easy-fit Rear-entry avoid any boot that is offered as racing or performance (this just means they will be uncomfortable....Buying ski-boots is like buying new shoes if they hurt when you try they on they will be hell after a week.
