Been there twice and I like it.

The skiing is great for intermediates, not so good for advanced skiers. Pistes never seem to get crowded even at school holiday time.

Eating out is really good. It has a reputation for being a bit rowdy but I didn't feel it was and I'm not a fan of rowdy. Prices are much lower than most because of duty free status.

The only downside for me is the scenery isn't stunning. Its nice but its not stunning.

Some people complain about the transfer time (3 to 5 hours) but we hire a car and I always enjoy the trip.

Wickers will be along soon. he loves the place

Wickers is definately the expert on Livignio. I spent 2 weeks there in 2008 for my honeymoon, I like the resort although found it slightly frustrating that the 2 main ski areas were separated by the valley, its easy enough to get on the bus and ferry yourself from one side to the other, but I personally like everything to be quick and easy when I go skiing, but that's just me.

Also found it to be incredibly windy for the whole 2 weeks, although I think we were just unlucky. We are planning on going back for our 4th wedding anniversary (officially out first though as we got married on 29th Feb) and I wouldn't go back to a resort I didn't enjoy.

Never heard or saw much rowdiness, although we were staying at the Montanina which has its own bar in the basement and that occasionally got a bit noisy at kicking out time but that was it. Plus they have a slide down into their bar if you don't fancy using the stairs.

Tony, Ian;

Went to Italy last season & loved it; the people were really friendly, the food excellent ( & good value) + the snow was brilliant! So quite keen to go back.
Firstly the snow needs to be there & ideally would like to be above the freeze/thaw line as not too keen on icy pistes in the morning. Livigno 'should' satisfy on these points I think.
Really like lots of reds & blues,tree line skiing ( so may miss out on that'here')& easy slope access from accomodation ( again, not sure as village seems pretty strung out). Also dont like rip off prices for food & drink so should be okay here on that count
Not to bothered about nightlife but a few bars etc would be good.

Would you concurr on the above assumptions or should I go somewhere else?
