Milder temperatures in The Alps brought a little rain to lower slopes this week... but more snow arrived at altitude.

Scattered snowfalls have been reported right across Europe and Scandinavia, and in the United States and Canada a steady stream of resorts have been opening their slopes for the first time.

Weather and Snow Next Week

Temperatures look set to remain above their seasonal average for the next week or so, which is not unusual and no reason to worry! The general outlook continues to be unsettled, with a good possibility of further snow at altitude for many locations.

This coming weekend should see fresh snow high up (above 1700m) for many resorts in Austria, Italy and Switzerland.

Watching the live alpine skiing this morning from Levi Finland & the conditions looked pretty good for the first leg of the womens slalom. Second leg on eurosport at midday. :)
