Hi, we are going to Morzine in January and staying in a ride & Slide chalet on the morzine les gets side. We hope to get some private lessons for about 3 days of our stay. this will be our 4th skiing trip so of intermediate level. My question is we will prob have the lessons on the Les Gets/ Morzine side so should we just get passes for here or should we get for full Portes de Soleil pass? also I would be grateful for any recommendations on a good ski school here as our 1st time visiting!
Any info on Morzine would be very much appreciated. Many thanks!

Plenty of intermediate skiing on a Morzine/Les Gets pass. You must try lunch at both Point de Nyon, they provide slippers! and also les Lhottys where the boss is a super little lady called Sandie.
This pass also covers Mont Chery where there are seldom queues and there are great views of Mont Blanc.

If you are after private lessons it is worth giving Les Gets Snowsports a shout: http://www.skischool.co.uk/

If i was you id stick to Morzine for the first few days and then if you have settled ok then try and venture over to avoriaz and champoussin. You will need the port du soleil pass to venture over the mountain but it will be well worth it.
Depending on your ability you should be able to catch the long blue run from the top of mossets which takes you right over to Morgins, from there you can ski back through champoussin, les crosets, avoriaz and back to morzine... It will take you most of the day so you would need to head off early.. If you can get over to champoussin by lunch then stop at the mountain restaraunt at the side of the red run in the main village its very nice.. Oh and the slopes over there are far less crowded than morzine avoriaz.

We went to Les Gets in March 2008 and my then 7 year old had 5 days of ski school with the British Ski School out there. I had a one hour private lesson, also with BASS, and it totally changed my skiing. I can't recommend them highly enough - if Andy is still there then ask for him!
They managed to get my almost beginner son turned into a confident skier who considers himself "more of an off piste sort of skier" now. Hilarious....

Thanks Kateshaw,
I am delighted to get that reply as I only booked with BASS Last week, skischool for the boys and some private lessons for the adults so it is great to hear they are good. I Must now but in a request for Andy!
Did ye get the full Portes du Soleil ski pass or was the Les/Gets Morzine pass sufficent?
