As so many of you helped me decide the skiing vs boarding i thought i would pick your brains again
We have trawled the brochures and just cant decide on resorts, we have a short lost of requirements:
Short Transfer (2 hours or less)
Good nightlife although nothing quite as ibiza on snow!
Activites
Good Snow (lol)
Good sized hotel (small little ones scare me lol)
Anyone got any good expeirences of anything, your help is very much appreciated
someone choose me a resort before i go insane
Login
Neither are places I would choose personally, both quite low so might suffer if conditions are poor, and both are limited in extent locally, but they might be ok for first timers.

What amount of extent do you want?
When do you plan to go?
Do you want offpiste as well?
On a limited budget?

Hi Tony
Im not very good with the skiing lingo (lol) so bear with me
I think we would just want gentle runs, never boarded or skied before so we wont be attempting too much anything gentle will be fine
In terms of where we go we are very open, initial thoughts are austria as it looks very nice. We are not too sure whether to avoid Bulgaira. Finlannd looks nice but again i know nothing about the area
Budget wise about £1300 all in for two, which i hope is do-able
Thanks very much

Ok, here goes with a couple of suggestions:
Flaine or Avoriaz in France, close to Geneva
Alpe d'Huez in France, 2hr transfer from Grenoble, lots of good beginner slopes as well as other more exciting stuff
Obergurgl in Austria
Lech in Austria
Les Arcs in France (not such a short transfer)
You might also like Montgenevre in France, or Serre Chevalier wheres theres lots of nice gentle stuff to be found.
Cervinia in Italy is also worth a look.
Also look at Saas Fe in Switzerland.
Let us know what you think.

St Wolfgang is very limited and not idea. St Johann gets reasonable snow and you can explore further afield if you wish.gemski wrote:Hi Tony

Hi gemski
have skied St Johann in 2007 when the winter was very poor and as Tony mentioned the lower resorts suffered, having said that we skied to the bottom of the gondola every day as they were making snow all the while. As a beginner resort it is ideal, the nightlife is fantastic but not Ibiza on snow! The area pass includes Kitzbuhel which despite being low always does okay, Fieberbrunn is also on the pass which is a little higher if things get really poor. There is also the steinplatte at Waidring which is a 30min bus ride away so although you might have to get a bus you will alwasy be able to ski. Whatever you decide hope you have fun

I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Hi gemski, you mentioned Finland but did't know much about the place. Its wonderful, short transfers, snowsure and ideal for beginners but................its very cold, very expensive and dark from about 2.30pm. Having said that I love it, it suits us perfectly lots of extra activities, uncrowded, magical the Apres ski is there if you want it, if you dont there's lovely places to have a few beers or a good meal. Accomodation wise can be a log cabin in the woods, large hotels slope side or lots of appartments slope side. I love Austria but have the Finland bug at the moment so going for the second time next year.
I'm a laydee
