Hi, we are considering booking a holiday to Sestriere but I've heard it can be a bit pricey. Last year we went to Claviere and were paying about 6 euros for a G&T. Is Sestriere more expensive? Anyone recommend it? Cheers

Last season i was paying 9 euros for a pint guiness in Serre Che in France! Think France, Italy etc all gonna be expensive for the drinkies with present exchange rate....unfortunately. But Sestriere / milky way deffo worth a visit!
Not ALL boarders sit in the middle of pistes.....

I never paid more than 4 euros for a pint in Serre Che, you must have been drinking in the wrong place!

Last time I was in Sauze (Feb 08) it was 5 euros a pint although 3.5 in happy hour. We didnt go out in Sestriere, but prices for food etc was no more, and the cheapest place to eat/drink during the day was the cafe at the foot of the Banchetta run where most of the lifts go off.

Was in Sestriere last January and self catering is expensive there. If I was going again I'd get the best half-board deal I could find. You can get cheap and cheerful deals at the Olympic Apartments, which are a bit like a huge university hall of residence. Even if you go self catering there you can get a weekly book of meal tokens from reception for the restuarant at the apartment complex which let you eat as much as you like for your evening meal.
