Hi All,
Am considering going to Sauze 2nd or 3rd week in Jan; Have found a few decent deals & thinking of booking early ( next week or so); What is the snow depth usually like at this time of year? Is it reliable or should I wait?
Any other hints/tips appriciated.
Thanks in advance

As you have now lost any early booking price advantages (this is now the busy period for Tour Ops), my view is that you should wait and see if the snow comes, then choose a resort.
Last winter there was abundant snow, start doing a snow dance and it may happen again :D

bandit;
That was the plan( wait for snow then book) but prices seem to be holding up more than the last couple of seasons . Have also read about reduced capacity etc & thought whats on offer now may be the cheapest we will see it + might not be any thing left at short notice ( e.g 2 or 3 weeks ) !

charlie 26 ,
I hope your feeling its correct but if it isnt, do they have plenty of snow cannons to cover the pistes?
Any other tips etc you can pass on?

they had plenty of snow canons espessialy back to the village ,but we were very lucky with the snow last year .as for the place we loved it great for apres etc not to dear,loads of well groomed pistes went over to sansicario ,sesestre,also skied in france for the day.as for tips try and get accomadation near lifts as alot of hotels are a good walk away uphill quite tiring with skis and boots .plenty of happy hours from 4-7 also the give you free nibbles

You will most definitely not be able to get to Sauze by booking direct for the same price per person as a tour op deal, of that I am absolutely certain.
Sauze is a good place to ski and a nice little town for the evenings. The skiing is extensive espceially when you trot off over to Sestriere which I did every other day.
The snow making is also extensive, and the ground will be cold enough between now and then for a base to be laid. Sauze is a little erratic with snowfall, but I have been twice in times of little snow and we got 2 great weeks of skiing in. I would imagine it will be fine, its reasonably high up skiing as well.
Have a blast.
