Hello all, first time caller. As the title says, 6 adults and 7 kids. Kids have all done 4 or 5 weeks skiing, adults are long time skiers.
We're looking for as near doorstep skiing as possible and we're currently considering Cervinia and Sauze area.Having trouble locating large S/C appartments and/or catered chalets. I know Cervinia is high but what about conditions in the Milkyway in April?
Has anyone views or information on traveling from Turin to say Val Thorens or La Plagne as an alternative location?

Hmmm, Milkyway is a brilliant ski area, but it has a disappointing snow record. Saying that, this year its looking superb. However, I wonder what it will be like so late in the season.

I think your best bet would be Cervinia to be honest. VT is accessible from the French side of the Frejus tunnel, but only by a long link. To drive round to the resort would take hours.

Serre Chevalier boasts late season skiing, and is just a little further on from Montgenevre, or possibly Alpe d'Huez or Les 2 Alpes, they arent miles away?

oscarbigfeet welcome to J2ski :D If you want to drive from Turin to Val Thorens, you will pass through, or close to lots of ski resorts. For example Bardonnechia isn't in the Milky Way, but it's fairly close and benefited from development during the Olympics.

Also there are plenty of resorts on the Maurienne side as you head for France. Real places, not concrete jungles with a few planks on the fascias. You can even access Val Thorens from the Maurienne with the Orelle link.

Bonneval takes you from the village at 1800 up to around 3000m in the Vanoise National Park and in winter can only be accessed from the "Italian" side of the Col d'Iseran.

Ah yes, Les Seybelles. A place that keeps hitting my radar for some reason.

Thanks for your replys guys. Our prefered resorts in Italy are proving difficult from the point of SC accomodation we can all fit in. Montgenevre,Serre and Alpe d'Huez are now top of the list.Looking at chartering a coach to do the transfer to/from Ad'H, so if we end up going there we may have spaces available!
