Hi folks. New to the forum, so please treat me gently!

Off to ADH on Mar 21, with wife and 2 kids, and just wondering what the average bar prices are like. You know, a large beer.

Fortunately, staying chalet board, so meals sorted, except for lunch.
Reckon a few trips to the supermarche might be in order, or alternatively, will have to make a few extra ham rolls at brekkie.

Cheers )

I am hazarding a guess based on experience of people I know in France, that you will pay bewteen 4 and 6 euros for a beer. If you have chalet board, I'd personally look to have a few pints straight off the slopes in a bar with a happy hour, and pay around 3 euros a pint and then abuse the wine back at the chalet or get some take outs )

Recently back from AdH and snow was superb. Prices varied quite a bit. Beer in chalet hotel was about 2.50, and elsewhere anything from 3.50 to 6 or 7, depending on where you were and whether it was Happy Hour (or two hours in some bars). Best value for lunch we found in AdH itself was Le Lac Blanc - by the DMC gondola and under a Neilson chalet. We had a decent snack lunch plus a drink for 12 euros for the two of us. Auris en Oisans was quite reasonable too. The restaurant at the DMC mid station was much more expensive however and it was 40 cents to use the loos! If you make a picnic lunch, there seemed to be plenty of places to sit and eat though. Hope you have a great holiday.

Not a bad price, the answer is shop around, don't pay the over inflated prices just because you on holiday 8)

Just back from a great week in ADH myself. Stayed in Crystal's Hermitage Clubhotel and had kids with me so not out and about too much. Beer in the hotel seemed to vary from €3.50 to €5 depending on the time and evening. They also had a two for one one of the evenings. Most bars have a happy hour at some stage so should be possible to have a few without breaking the bank.

For lunch, we went to the La Tabourle (at the Rond Point most days). It is probably quite expensive but it was so convenient. We often split a pizza (delicious for about €12) and a plate of chips €5 - not too bad. But the coffee - great but over €4 a pop

Guys

Thanks for the info.

Reckon I'll be doing exactly what Tony says, and catch happy hour, have wine with meal, and finish with my own carry-outs.

Jastem, which bars did you find for decent prices ? We're staying in the L'Hermitage, which has the Crowded House below. Did you go in there ?

We ate in Le Lac Blanc last year, and your right, it wasn't too bad value. Think we'll give it a go again this year, and I'll give Auris a try as well (ahhh, the chairlift to hell. Always a pleasureable ride!)

Ian, I've seen a few of your posts re LGB Is it a good resort for families, and is it reasonably priced.

Cheers
Alan

Wanderer, thanks for that. Must've read my mind !

So the hotel looks reasonable value. Nice one.
Will probably do the sharing of pizzas ourselves.

Thanks
Alan

Last stayed at Hermitage about ten years ago! I think some of the beer drinkers in our group found an Irish pub not far from the Hermitage which had Happy Hour. Not a drinker myself so didn't take much notice - sorry!
I did buy a couple of bottles of French cider for about 1 euro each from the supermarket opposite the ice rink - quite palatable! The Alaska Pizzeria opposite the tourist office was also reasonable and very friendly service.
