Niederau is good, went twice back in the 1990's, but also look at Westendorf, for a good ski school and beginner area, to going higher up to some easy reds and cruisey blues - and it is also linked into the Ski Welt and now I believe a gondola links to Kitzbuhel. Nice traditional village - very Austrian.

I had a great teacher, with most of my class being from Ireland, so the comedy value was great (the craic!) and we yodelled our way around the slopes.

Plenty of nice places to stop for a drink/break/look at the view and the snow is usually better in Westendorf than the Ski Welt.

Worth a look! ... but so is Niederau!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

Well I agree has to Niederau ! great value and an ideal resort for your experience with some of the best tuition in Austria (Red ski school the best).

Me and the OH always need our N fix each year but like to try other resort. Have fancied trying Maria Alam but not managed to get the accommodation we wanted to try.

If you pick N I am sure you will enjoy and want to return :D .

Can't see you being disappointed with any resort in Austria as you will be assured of a warm welcome with people who can't do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay in their beautiful country.

Some of the best tuition in Austria? Have you used every ski school in Osterich in order to quantify that with some sort of elaborate ratings system?

and do you need to comment on everything and anything regardless if its to do with the topic ?
Try and keep negative personal comments to yourself or your little cliquey group.
To everyone not in this clique, look at who has last posted a message on each thread everytime you log on.
You all know who you are.

Interesting options- all 3 quite different. Soll is linked to a good sized ski area, but is a small and traditional place, and has an erratic snow record; Niederau is a tiny place with a very limited ski area and another at low altitude so snow can be patchy; Maria Alm is another small village but linked to another interesting ski area but you need to use the buses to get about, or take a car.

Of the 3, I would personally try Hochkonig (Maria Alm)as it looks the most interesting to explore.

I wouldnt recommend Niederau if you like to cruise around and try new terrain out over the course of a week. However, its a good place to learn to ski and might just suit your requirements nicely. Soll is regarded as a good place to learn also, and there will be more going on there, so that maybe your best option.
