Can anyone help please - First time in Sauze d'Oulx
First of all I need some self catering accommodation in Sauze d'Oulx for 2 adults and 2 children from 31st Jan 09 for 7 nights. The ideal would be within walking distance of the lifts and away from the noise of the nightlife.
I plan to fly from Glasgow to Turin. What is the best way to get from the airport to the resort? Happy to hire a car if needed, but from past experience the car sits and does nothing all week while we ski. Is the car the best option or are there other links from the airport to the resort?
Any help would be great....thanks in advance

I have hired cars from Turin airport in more recent years and I have not had any problems hiring chains, I have always pre booked them and they have always been supplied.

I've not seen to Sauze for many years, and these days I'm always in Switzerland, but I have picked up on other skiers mentioning that hire cars from Italian airports don't generally seem to be equipped with winter tyres, and also folks have had problems hiring chains from the car rental agencies. May not be all Italian airports though.

Sauze has been a favourite resort with us for many years.
Self catering accommodation is not very plentiful but try Chez Nous - its out of Sauze at Javencaeux but there's a brand new 4 man chair takes you right to Sportina (meeting point for all activities!)
Getting from the airport: you can get taxi all the way - its not cheap so set the price before you set off, but many of the accommodation providers also offer airport transfers which work out cheaper.
If you hire a car its about an hour and half and motorway nearly all the way - there is a toll station on route.
Alternatively take a bus (E5 each)or taxi(fix the price before you set off - likely to be around E40) and go to the Porto Neuvo train station, trains to Oulx are frequent and take about an hour, last year it cost us E8 return, then taxi or bus to Sauze (stops at Javencauex on the way up the hill. If you take the train you MUST validate your ticket before getting on - use the orange stamping machines on the platforms.
